This financial commitment focuses on enhancing infrastructure and recruiting experienced talent, reinforcing SK Tes' dedication to delivering world-class data center retirement services.
SK Tes Americas General Manager Bill Vasquez highlighted the company's existing capabilities and vision: "SK Tes' global footprint and scale are ideal for fully supporting the data center space, from edge computing to large hyperscale decommissioning projects."
Central to this investment is a dedicated, purpose-built facility in Virginia. The 128,000 sq. ft. site will be exclusively designed for ITAD data center asset processing, covering all aspects of retirement, including decommissioning, testing/repair, data sanitization, and disposition.
In addition to infrastructure, SK Tes has assembled a specialized team of experts in hyperscale data center operations. Expected to grow to 50 members by year-end, this team will focus on executing and refining these enhanced services.
Eric Ingebretsen, SK Tes' Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the strategic importance of this investment: "Processing and dispositioning data center assets globally has long been a core competency for SK Tes. This investment allows us to scale from processing 5,000 drives at a time to handling 100,000 drives simultaneously, requiring a fundamentally different approach."
Vice President of Hyperscale Remarketing Keith Layton added, "In my 27 years in the secondary IT resell market, I have never seen such volatility. With a true global presence, SK tes is uniquely positioned to navigate market fluctuations, expand in the U.S. hyperscale sector, and provide world-class services to our global customers."
This investment not only underscores SK Tes' commitment to top-tier ITAD solutions but also serves as a scalable global model for data centers. The approach being implemented in the U.S. will guide similar expansions across SK Tes' international markets.
